Michael became a big brother on October 25, 1983. Nathan Daniel Rosner would give more to each one of us than we ever dreamt possible.
Happy Birthday Nathan!

Frater is latin for brother. That’s pretty much the extent of what I’ve been able to retain from a highschool graduation of 2000
that’s a good start Mike - Charlotte has just started Latin at school and I am ashamed at how much I didn’t learn in my day, but we are having fun when we come across everyday words which come from Latin. One that springs to mind when I think of you is “discipline”, you have demonstrated such immense discipline in your recovery…..ever notice how it is similar to disciple? Did you know it comes from “discere” - “to learn”? It’s interesting how sometimes we think of someone who has self-discipline as being in control, or hard on themselves - but if we think instead of someone who has self-discipline learning about themselves, working to gain self awareness…then I think of you! xxx
Ah ha, lieutenant, no I hadn’t remembered much else from Latin class of 2000, which probably would have meant Latin in like ‘99 or something. I’m pretty satisfied with even remembering what I have been able to recall especially after head traumas. But I am so glad I got involved with Latin for the simple help with vocabulary it has given.
Mike? what is your memory like for lyrics? I was talking to a friend on the phone last night and we were realising how even songs we hadn’t thought of for years were embedded, intact and verbatim (oh! another great Latin word!)in our minds. Obviously, the cheesier the song, the more memorable it would seem…..funny old thing, memory.
Ah ha, again.
Actually song lyrics has been my speciality, some songs feel like a curse though. Those girly kiddy songs, I remember most of those lyrics unfortunatly.
uh oh…this could run and run - those are exactly the most cursedly memorable. OK - “I only knew you for a while, I never saw your smile….” anyone care to follow that?
How about: “You were working as a waitress in a cocktail bar when I met you….”
And arghh, oh no!! “Close your eyes, give me your hand darling, do you feel my heart beating?…”
You know what, Mike? that really dates me!!
No, I’m sorry Alex those songs in particular are ones I just so happen with which I am unfamiliar.
-Unhappy face emoticon-
Mike, that’s probably, on balance, a good thing. Firstly they are really really really old, and then just plain embarrassing. I know plenty of people who, even if they were familiar with them, just wouldn’t own up to it. Did you ask Rae if she knew any of them? Or Bobby? First one is “Together in Electric Dreams”, (strange film!) and second is “Don’t you want me, baby?”, check out the Human League….the third ,yuk, yuk, yuk, is by The Bangles - Eternal Flame…. I bet I’ve got some country stuck there somewhere too, but let’s not go there.
Do you remember that when I visited with my children, Charlotte tried the drums in the basement? Well, she has been having lessons and I’m going to hear her in an informal “rock and pop” concert in a couple of weeks, at her school. When she makes it big time, I’ll make sure you’re on the credits! xx
